Prose is the most typical form of written language, applying ordinary grammartical structure and natural flow of speech rather than rhythmic structure as in traditional poetry. The term applies to all expression in language that do not have a regular rhythmic pattern.
Prose is considered to be one of the two major literary structures with the other being verse. Prose compreses full grammatical sentences, which then constitute paragraphs while overlooking aesthetic appeal, whereas poetry typically involves a metrical or rhyming scheme.
Prose is standard style of writing used for most spoken dialogues, fictional as well as topical and factual writing and discoursed. So, the simple definition is prose is writing that is not poetry or it is and ordinary writing.
